Fairfield Church
Fairfield Church stands on it's own - and indeed is a class of it's own ! If you have not yet visited - why wait ? The Church stands in an area of outstanding beauty, surrounded by Romney Marsh Sheep. In the Spring the Vicar often has to compete with the rather loud chorus of the Marsh Frogs ( brought over from Hungary many years ago). The Church would have been originally built from timber - but has been transformed over the years. The current appearance is that of how it was in 1700's, with significant areas having been rebuilt in 1913. A distinguishig feature is the Triple Decker Pulpit. The lower deck built for the Clerk, the middle one for the minister - who then would move up to the top tier in order to preach. Now it is just the minister - she has the choice of all 3 ( although the bottom one is a tad small !) In recent year the Church has been the setting for both the BBC and Cinema version of Great Expectations Services 10am every 1st Sunday of the Month - said Holy Communion Service, lasting about 30-40 minutes. All welcome ! In December the service is replaced by an afternoon Carol Service, which is always the 1st Sunday December at 3.30pm So for 2020 it will be on Sunday 6th December 3.30pm Contact; Revd Shuna Body shunabody@hotmail.com 01797 343977
