Message to residents

Dear Friends

I hope that during this time of isolation, you are able to all keep well. There does seem to be some hope that this enforced lockdown, has indeed helped to save lives. However it is also very important to contact your GP or hospital if you are suffering from other medical issues, as they still need attending to. If in doubt you can always phone 111 and ask for advice. Obviously if it is urgent, do not hesitate to contact 999.

I must admit putting the sign on the door of the church saying it was locked – was probably one of the hardest things I have had to do in ministry. We have always prided ourselves on the churches being unlocked every day, for all people.

But I as I look at those stone walls that have supported the Church for over 800 years, I think rather playfully about the stories they could tell - The services, the weddings, baptisms and funerals, the concerts and Pop up Pubs. The flower arrangers discussing the latest display, as the cleaners polish dutifully in the background. The children at the School Services – and the legendary Christmas Eve service ! So much activity. So I wonder whether those stones, the very fabric of the building – are enjoying the time of peace, as they reflect on the love and prayers that have associated all of that activity. Something to muse on, anyway…….

In such a scattered community, especially if you are not on the internet, you can feel quite isolated. The Church of England has launched a FREE phone line, where you can access music, hymns and reflections. You can phone up at any point of the day or night. So maybe the next time you are feeling lonely, or cannot sleep at night- give it a call 0800 804 8044

I have been busy with the Romney Marsh Community Support Hub  01797 208590  where you can have hot meals delivered, shopping support and delivery of prescriptions. You can also get advice or engage with Telephone Befriending (which CARM are managing). So please do not hesitate to contact Mon – Frid   9-4 and Weekends 9-12. The Hub is managed by local people – for local people. So please do make use of it.

Lastly – please do not hesitate to contact me, even if you simply want to just have a chat. My phone number is 01797 343977. If you get the answerphone – I will always phone you back.

Please stay safe and well. Church Services may well have stopped – but prayer continues. Please be reassured of my prayers for each and every one of you at this difficult time
