Monthly Letter

Dear Friends

At the end of this year, our dear organist and Choirmaster Sylvia Pegge has decided that after 23 years of faithful service – it is time to rest. I cannot thank Sylvia enough for her dedication and energy that she has put into the choir, but especially her sense of humour, kindness and the way in which she has carried out her duties. She will be very much missed.

Sadly musicians of any type seem to be few and far between. However  – if anyone knows an organist or pianist who would be happy to play once a month, or be on a rota for evensong – please do let me know. Evensong is a perfect end to a weekend, and I know how much the congregation appreciate the service. So please spread the word so that this wonderful service can continue.

I also want to say a huge thank you for the “team” who have made our Pop Up Pubs such a success – and of course all those who supported it. They were great fun, and there seemed to be a real sense of community, which was great to see. The next Church event is our Harvest Supper on 18thOctober in Brookland Village Hall. There are sign-in sheets in both Brookland and Snargate Churches for anyone wishing to come. Fish &Chip Supper – but bring your own drinks, and puddings ! I am sure it will be a lovely occasion.

I am of course always willing to listen to any ideas for services, especially with young people – but cannot do it on my own. So if you want to get involved, come and have a chat and we can get planning !

Whilst I would normally resist from mentioning Christmas so early – as Fairfield Carol Service is on 1st December 3.30pm, I wanted to make sure people had it in their diaries. It is always the first Sunday of the month, but I am conscious the 1st day of the month may catch a few people out !

So get spreading the word near and far, and lets hope we find an organist that can play loud enough to drown my singing out.

God Bless

Rev Shuna
